We synthesize multicomponent oxide glasses for mid-infrared spectral range and we develop our own technology of nanostructured microoptical elements and nonlinear photonic crystal fibers. We investigate conditions of supercontinuum generation in our own fiber structures.

Dr Mariusz Klimczak will deliver two talks on results of our work in supercontinuum generation in nonlinar photonic crystal fibers at Photonics West 2014 in San Francisco in February:

Project Title: Novel light sources based on photonic crystal fibers with nanostructured cores

Project Description: The goal of the research programme is to exploit capabilities in the creation of soft glass photonic crystal fibers with structured cores, which allow the generation of a continuous spectrum from the visible to the mid IR with a highly efficient wavelength conversion. The novelty of the proposed project is based on the fabrication of highly nonlinear photonic crystal fibers with structured cores made of two different glasses or air-glass structures with subwavelength features. The project cover several tasks as modeling of nonlinear phenomena in fibers, design of nonlinear photonic crystal fibers, design and development of highly nonlinear soft glass, development of photonic crystal fibers. The main tasks for PhD students will be modeling and characterization of nonlinear phenomena in photonic crystal fibers.

Payment: A scholarship of 3000 PLN/month will be provided.
